Taris, 300 yıldan uzun süredir büyük galaksi tarafından unutulmuş olan terkedilmiş bir felaket sonrası bataklık dünyasıdır. POINTS OF INTEREST: • Various ruins HISTORY OF TARIS Known by many, as the “Coruscant of the Outer Rim” Taris is a post-apocalyptic swamp. The once thriving ecumenopolis now lies in ruins a mere shadow of the civilization that spanned the surface of the planet.
Three centuries ago, Taris was the last of outer rim planets still held by the Republic. To defend Taris the Endar Spire, a hammerhead class cruiser, fortified the planet’s defenses from an impending Sith invasion. The Sith fleet lead by Darth Malak washed over the Republic defenses in a quick attempt to capture Bastila Shan a Jedi famous for her skill in battle meditation. Fleeing in escape pods jettisoned during the battle, Shan and many others sought refuge on Taris. While some escapees found sanctuary on Taris a swoop gang, the Black Vulkars, held Bastila prisoner. A methodical search for Bastila Shan with no leads on the Jedi’s whereabouts left an impatient Darth Malak fearful that she would escape the planet surface. Although Bastila Shan had escaped Taris, Malak ordered an orbital bombardment by the Sith fleet to prevent her escape.
A belief that the Republic effort to re-colonize is a hopeless venture has not hindered their attempts. What the Sith destroyed can be rebuilt however the danger lies with the monstrosities created by Sith alchemy, rakghouls. Victims of these abominations of nature can mutate into rakghouls themselves. Although once confined to the Undercity these creatures now ravage the planet’s surface. Indications of anomalous powers among some of the rakghouls have been reported suggesting that these creatures are evolving.
Republic and Jedi leaders aim to claim victory in the Taris re-colonization, proving there is nothing to be feared from the Sith. This symbolic victory will be perilous, as the Empire will go to great lengths preventing such a tremendous feat.
