HISTORY OF ORD MANTELL As the Heart of the Bright Jewel, Ord Mantell became famous for its dense cometary cloud. Plagued by conflict the planet is in the grips of a civil war. Separatists are fighting Republic forces using Guerrilla warfare selecting targets indiscriminately.
Settled in circa 12,000 BBY by Corellian colonists as a foothold for the Galactic Republic it was one of several ordnance/regional depots that lead to its “Ord” name. As the strategic importance of the planet began to diminish it became a hot bed for illegal activity.
The military all but abandoned the planet after a corrupt admiral sold the local fleet. Shortly after Ord Mantell became a haven for criminal syndicates that now influence local government.
In the wake created by the ravages of the civil war; local government has been destabilized, global defenses bolstered, crime syndicates are importing black market goods, and the Republic is deploying its most elite forces.
