The Empire’s origins begin roughly around 126,347 BTC.
In 24,347 BTC, the Sith people united under the ruler named Adas, a powerful Sith who claimed the title of Sith’ari (“Overlord”). Adas managed to use violent warfare to unite Korriban under one banner. However, it wasn’t long before the Rakata found the Sith and attempted to enslave them. The Sith fought back mercilessly, eventually repelling the invaders at the cost of Adas’ life.
The Sith used the craft and weapons of the Rakata invaders to push beyond their world and into space, conquering other species and eventually learning to wield the Force themselves as they gained more of an understanding of Rakata technology. The Empire expanded and eventually reached Ziost, the site of their future capital. The Empire’s glory was short-lived, however.
Without their Sith’ari the Sith people fell into the chaotic cycle of civil war. With turbulent violence overtaking the world of Korriban, the Sith relocated to Ziost, leaving Korriban a graveyard world. From this point on the Sith returned to a more primitive, tribal society over the span of 20 millennia.
Around 3,247 BTC the world of Korriban was visited once more by newcomers – Dark Jedi. The Hundred-Year Darkness had just concluded with the Battle of Corbos, and fleeing fallen Jedi arrived on Korriban to establish a new empire. Made into gods, the native Sith people welcomed the Dark Jedi as rulers and kings. The new Sith Empire was founded, and with time the Dark Jedi interbred with the native Sith through alchemy.
The Sith Empire thrived in relative isolation from the Republic; both ignorant of one another’s existence. When Gav and Jori Daragon unexpectedly discovered Korriban through a random hyperspace calculation, it triggered the Sith’s incursion under the leadership of Naga Sadow into known Republic space, beginning the Great Hyperspace War in 1,347 BTC. Though the Republic eventually crushed the Sith invasion and forced Sadow to flee to Yavin 4, the current Lord of the Sith managed to survive the Republic’s victory and flee to the Unknown Sectors.
Korriban was again resettled in 340 BTC at the settlement of Dreshdae by Dark Jedi survivors of the War of Exar Kun. They founded a new Sith Academy, which was investigated just a few decades later by Darth Revan and Darth Malak in their attempt to unlock the secrets of the Star Forge. After defeating Darth Malak in the Jedi Civil War, the Republic returned to Korriban two years later to subdue the remaining Sith only to find the world abandoned and the Academy in ruins.
In 298 BTC the Jedi Exile ventured upon the surface of Korriban in search of her missing Jedi Master Lonna Vash. The planet was still deserted and in ruins all those years later, though temporarily occupied by Darth Sion and his forces.
Now, the Sith have returned and resettled the homeworld of the glorious Sith Empire under the leadership of the Sith Lord whom survived the Great Hyperspace War. They threaten the Republic once more from this coveted seat of power, and hope to overthrow their foes with the ancient teaching of power from the former Sith Lords that now occupy the tombs that rest on the planet.
