HISTORY OF BALMORRA: Balmorra's roots date back to the beginning of the Republic. When it was colonized it began to attract a large group of military contractors and weapons manufacturers due to the its strategic position near the Core Worlds.However, this strategic location also put Balmorra in a state of constant warfare. This put Balmorra in a tough position when it was quickly overrun by Sith forces during the outbreak of the war.
The Republic had weakened its grip on Balmorra due to the conflicts raging on what the Republic considered more important fronts. With troops being moved off-world it wasn't long before the Sith wrestled control of the planet's resources and production capabilities for their own ends. After the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, Balmorra was now officially in the Sith Empire's hands.
A small Republic detachment was left behind to run an underground resistance against the Sith Empire's forces. Within a few years after the peace, Republic forces began to arrive in greater numbers to assist the Balmorrans. However, resentment because of Republic abandonment still lingered in the hearts and minds of the people. Still, the assistance was a welcomed sight despite their disposition. As a result, the Sith Empire's forces have begun to reinforce the planet and attempt to tighten their control.
